Education in New Zealand

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is available in two formats: Academic and General Training. But overseas study student only require taking the Academic format, which costs HK$1,265.

The test is divided into 4 parts: listening, comprehension, writing and speaking. The whole test takes about 2 hours 45 minutes. The highest score for each part is 9. The final score is the average of the 4 parts. There is no passing score. The requirement for most New Zealand schools is 6.0 with no band lower than 5.5.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is an Internet-based test (TOEFL iBT™)。

The test has four sections, the total score is 120 and each part scores 30. Most schools in New Zealand require students to score 20 in writing.

Test format is as follow:

Attending TOEFL test in Hong Kong costs US$180. Student can register online, by phone, by mail or in person. If you want to register by mail, it must be sent at least 4 weeks before the test date. Other methods will need 7 days for registration.
